Monday evenings I am teaching two classes at the Tuscany Community Club. From 4:30 – 5:30 for 6 – 8 year olds and from 5:30- 6:30 for 9 – 12 year olds. This will be an ongoing class throughout the spring with the possibility of some afternoon workshops on weekends for older students and perhaps adults. We started with drawing wavy lines, painting with primary colors and adding the secondary colors. When they were dry, the kids printed things about themselves between the lines. The following week we created Kasinsky Trees, using oil pastels. The third week we created birdhouses from small milk cartons and last week we started Zentangles. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures until last week with our birdhouses. Next week I will have pictures of the Zentangle booklets.
Week 3 found us doodling with Zentangles! What a fun escape. The time flew by and we did not finish the little booklet we started. All students were so engaged in what they were doing, parents were showing up to pick kids up and we felt our session had just started, not finished! Next week I will include some photos of our finished booklets.
We created decorated treasure boxes using a different medium this week….crushed egg shells. We smashed them onto the top of our treasure chests with glue and let them sit for a week before we painted the tops and added mod podge to seal them. The finished products turned out great!
We started our first session creating birdhouses from milk cartons. Using a couple coast of acrylic paint the cartons were coated and ready for decorating. A treasure chest of papers, ribbons, stickers and embellishments had the students creative juices flowing. Projects will be completed in week 2.
